20th Century Italian Pair of Vintage Waxed Oakwood Stools by Augusto Romano

A vintage Mid-Century modern Italian pair of stools made of hand crafted waxed Oakwood designed by Augusto Romano, in good condition. The similar seat covers of the ottomans are made of woven hemp, standing on four arched wooden legs. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1960, Italy.

Augusto Romano was an Italian furniture designer, born in 1918, in Italy and passed away in 2001. Romano studied architecture and design at the Politecnico di Torino where he graduated in 1944. Romano was influenced by the Scandinavian Mid-Century modern time period. He often worked with wicker, waxed oak, etc. In 1947, Romano won an award at the Triennale Milano for creating a magazine rack and a glass top coffee table.
