20th Century Italian Modern Ceramic Table Lamp Attributed to Piero Fornasetti

A large, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian table lamp made of hand crafted ceramic attributed to Piero Fornasetti, in good condition. The detailed lamp is composed with the original cylindrical shade which is particularized by antique maps, featuring a one light socket. The wires have been renewed. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1970, Italy.

Piero Fornasetti was an Italian painter, decorative artist and designer born in 1913, in Milan, Italy and passed away in 1988. Fornasetti enrolled at The Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and The Castello Sforzesco, in Milan but was expelled from both places for disobedience. During his life time, he continued to study and read. During the early 1930's, he started to learn the engraving and printing techniques. Thanks to his daily practice and ability, Fornasetti was able to learn and work with well known Italian artist and designers such as Alberto Savinio, Fabrizio Clerici and Gio Ponti.
