Sculptural Multicolored Glazed Ceramic Abstract Relief or Wall Plaque

ped-1071

A striking sculptural ceramic plaque signed 1990 Urbani and featuring an exuberant composition of abstract figures, organic forms, and interlocking shapes rendered in a rich palette of terracotta red, mustard yellow, deep green, cobalt blue, black, and ivory.

The irregular, free-form silhouette and raised, hand-modeled contours lend the work a pronounced sculptural quality, while the glossy, richly layered glaze enhances the depth and vibrancy of the composition. Blending figurative references with modernist abstraction, the piece evokes the expressive language of postwar European studio ceramics.

Both a ceramic relief and an independent sculptural object, this distinctive work makes a compelling statement displayed against a wall, on a console, or as part of a curated collection of modern and contemporary art.
