20th Century Italian Pair of Vintage Cabinet Writing Tables by Silvio Cavatorta

A pair of vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian writing cabinets ( his and hers ), designed by Silvio Cavatorta in good condition. Each of the large detailed cabinets features a lower section with two doors for concealed storage and an upper shelving unit for display or organization. The writing surfaces are elegantly inlaid with classic motifs in richly figured Rosewood and Cuban Mahogany, showcasing the refined craftsmanship and decorative sensibility of postwar Italian design. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Italy.

The family company Cavatorta was established in 1869, in Rome, Italy by Eugenio Cavatorta. The company was specialized in producing only small and exclusive series. The furniture was designed for each specific commission. In 1930, Eugenio Cavatorta son, Silvio Cavatorta took the company over and later on transferred it to Franco Cavatorta. Today, Cavatorta’s furniture remains highly sought after.
