20th Century Swedish Vintage High Back Beech Recliner Set by Folke Ohlsson & Dux

A vintage Mid-Century modern Swedish adjustable armchair or high back recliner with an ottoman, made of hand crafted polished Beechwood, designed by Folke Ohlsson and produced by Dux in good condition. The arms are slightly curved, standing on four angled wooden legs which are optimal for comfort in any setting. Manufacturer label at the bottom. Newly upholstered in a light-grey cotton velour. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Sweden, Scandinavia.

Folke Ohlsson was born in 1919, in Sweden and passed away in 2003. In 1953, Ohlsson moved to Atherton, California and established DUX, Inc. in San Francisco. Over the years, his furniture designs which are known as Scandinavian Modern have received world-wide attention. Ohlsson received more than 30 awards in his lifetime.
Dux Inc. was a Swedish furniture manufacture founded in 1926, in Sweden by the Ljung family. They specialized in designing and creating comfortable and innovative furniture, representing the Mid-Century Modern period and promoted a style of elegant design often referred to as Scandinavian Modern. Well-known designers have worked and designed for Dux, such as Folke Ohlsson, Bruno Mathesson, etc.
