20th Century Turquoise Italian Pair of Walnut Lounge Chairs by Melchiorre Bega

A vintage Mid-Century modern pair of Italian tall lounge chairs made of hand crafted polished Walnut, designed most likely by Melchiorre Bega in good condition. The sculptural armchairs have a slightly inclined backrest detailed with earmuffs, headrests particularized by arched armrests, standing on four curved wooden feet. Newly upholstered in a turquoise-blue bouclé fabric with dark-blue piping. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1950, Italy.

Melchiorre Bega was an Italian architect and designer born in 1898, in Crevalcore, near of the city Bologna, Italy and passed away in 1976. In 1919, Bega finished his apprenticeship as a crafmanship at the University Fine Arts Academy of Bologna. During his life, Bega designed over 300 projects in the major cities of Italy and abroad. He dived his career into Bega 1 & Bega 2, pre-World War Two and after war.
