20th Century French Metal Mesh Panel Screen by Atelier de Marolles & Jean Touret

A vintage Mid-Century modern French room divider made of hand crafted wrought iron designed by Jean Touret and produced by Atelier de Marolles, in good condition. The detailed Brutalist style screen is particularized by many animals. Minor fading, due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, France.
Jean Touret was a French sculptor and designer born in 1916, in Lassay-les-Châteaux, a small commune West of Paris, France and passed away in 2004. Touret started his career working at insurance company but soon developed a passion for art. After work, he took evening drawing classes to improve skills. After the war, he returned to France where he opened his studio Atelier de Marolles. Over the years, he designed and produced a few pieces such as tables, lamps and buffets. Touret also has worked with metal to design screens made out of zinc and copper. He is also know for developing the monumental high bronze altar for the Notre Dame which was installed in 1981.
