20th Century French Single Marble Console Table Attributed to Diego Giacometti

A vintage Mid-Century modern French freestanding console table made of hand crafted iron attributed to Diego Giacometti, in good condition. The rectangular end table is composed with a white-grey marble top, standing on four arched legs which is supported by a center beam, particularized by grape motifs. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1960, France.

Diego Giacometti was a Swiss sculptor and furniture designer, born in 1902, in Borgonovo, Bregaglia, Switzerland and passed away in 1985, in Paris, France. He was the younger brother of the Alberto Giacometti. After, he finished his business studies in Basel and St. Gallen, Giacometti moved to Paris to join his brother Alberto where he started to learn under the well-know French sculptor and teacher Antoine Bordelles at the Academy of the Grande Chaumière. Today his art pieces are highly sought after.
