20th Century Italian Pair of Opaline Glass Wall Sconces in the Style of Stilnovo

A vintage Mid-Century Modern pair of Italian round wall sconces, appliques made of hand blown frosted opaline glass in the style of Stilnovo in good condition. The glass shades of the lights, lamps are supported, halted by a chromed frame, featuring a one light socket. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading on the chrome base, due to age. Circa 1950 - 1960, Milan, Italy.

Stilnovo was an Italian lighting and design company founded in 1946, in Milan by the well-known Italian designer Bruno Gatta. During the Mid-Century Modern era the Stilnovo brand was one of the most pioneered lighting design companies in Italy, also known as the Stilnovo Period. Well-known artists have worked and designed for Stilnovo, such as the Italian architect and designer Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Joe Cesare Colombo, etc. To this day, the Stilnovo brand is still a benchmark in the Italian lighting history.
