20th Century Italian Rosewood Bernini Writing Table, Desk by Gianfranco Frattini

A freestanding, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian writing table made of hand crafted polished Brazilian Rosewood and Walnut, designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini in good condition. The desk is composed on each side with a drawer which are particularized by a round door knob, handle consisting its original brass hardware and keys. The center and the backside are detailed with storage compartments. The office table is standing on two wide legs which are supported by a wooden frame, H-shaped beam, resting on short feet. Restored, refurbished and hand polished. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Italy.

Gianfranco Frattini was an Italian architect and designer born in 1926, in Padua, in Veneto, norther Italy and passed away in 2004. He belongs to the generation that created the Italian design moment in the late 1950's through the 1960's. In 1953, Frattini received a degree in architecture from The Polytechnic University of Milan. At the beginning of his career, he learned and worked under his mentor Gio Ponti. Later on, Frattini opened his own practice in Milan.
