20th Century Italian Vintage Extendable Sapelewood Dining Table by Aldo Tura

An oval, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian extendable dining room table made of hand crafted polished, partly veneered Sapelewood, designed by Aldo Tura in good condition. The large conference table is composed with one extension leaf, particularized with a dark-brown lacquered goatskin coat which is his typical signature. The top is supported by two wide, arched wooden bases. Manufacturer label underneath. Minor fading, due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1960, Italy.

Aldo Tura was an Italian furniture designer and artist, born in 1909, in Italy and passed away in 1963. Most of his pieces represent the Art Deco period and the Art Noveau, he often used unusual materials like parchment, egg shell and goatskin. Tura started manufacturing his furniture in the 1930's. Tura's personal life and professional training remains lost in history.
