20th Century Swedish Ateljé Lyktan Chrome Floor Lamp by Hans Bergström

A vintage Mid-Century modern Swedish reading floor lamp made of hand crafted polished chrome, designed by Hans Bergström and produced by Ateljé Lyktan, in good condition. Each of the five round, slightly open adjustable chromed metal shades are halted by long flexible arms. The Scandinavian light is standing on a round white marble base. Manufacturer label at the bottom. Model Nr. 170-5. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950 - 1970, Sweden, Scandinavia.

Hans Bergström was a Swedish lighting designer, born in 1910, in Karlshamm, Sweden and passed away in 1996. After his high school, he started working and designing lamps, mirrors, bottles, etc. for Ystad-Metall In 1934, in Helsingborg, he founded his own company Atelje Lyktan. Bergstroem also designed a few pieces for ASEA. In 1950, he won a gold medal at the Triennale di Milano, Italy. Bergström his most known for his minimalist Model 181 Lamp ( designed and produced in 1950 ).
Atelje Lyktan is a Swedish lighting manufacturer, founded in 1934, in Helsingborg, Sweden by the well-known Swedish designer Hans Bergström. After, he retired, in the early 60's Philip's DEsign Manager, Anders Pehrson, became the Head of Operations in Åhus. Until today, some of Bergström's designs remain in production.
