20th Century Swedish Modern Nordiska Kompaniet Beechwood Armchair by Bengt Ruda

A single, vintage Mid-Century modern Swedish armchair made of hand crafted polished Beechwood designed by Bengt Ruda and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet, in good condition. The low Scandinavian side chair is composed with a slightly, curved inlined backrest, detailed with wide, short armrests, standing on four long angled wooden legs. Newly upholstered in a light-grey cotton velour. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1950, Sweden, Scandinavia.

Bengt Ruda was a Swedish furniture designer born in 1918, in Sweden and passed away in 1999. During the 1940' s and 1950's he designed furniture for the Swedish company Nordiska Kompaniet. In 1956, Ikea hired him, he was the first trained designed who got hired.
