20th Century Swedish Pair of Beechwood Reading Lounge Chairs by Otto Schulz

A vintage pair of Mid-Century modern Swedish reading lounge chairs designed by Otto Schulz for Boet, in good condition. The large Scandinavian club chairs have a curved, rounded stitched backrest with a loose cushion, standing on four curved dark stained Beechwood feet, enhanced by detailed brass nailheads. Newly upholstered in a white-cream velvet. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1960, Sweden, Scandinavia.

Otto Schulz was a German architect, designer and publisher born in 1882, in Germany and passed away in 1970, in Goeteborg, Sweden. Schulz studied at several architectural schools in Germany, at the Technical University in Charlottenberg and the Architectural School in Berlin. In 1907, Schulz moved to Gothenburg, Sweden and started working as a freelancer. Later in 1920, Schulz and Adolf Nordic Borg established their own company Boet. Over the time, Schulz designed very opulent furnitures.
