A vintage Mid-Century modern Finnish pair of wall shelves made of hand crafted polished Mahogany and metal, designed by Alvaro Aalto in good condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950, Finland.
Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto was born in 1898, in Helsinki, Finland and passed away in 1976 Finland. He was a Finnish architect and designer. In 1916, he studied architecture at the Helsinki University of Technology. His work includes architecture, furniture, textiles, glassware, sculptures and paintings. His furniture designs are considered as Scandinavian Modern. Aalto plays an influential role in bringing Modern Art to the knowledge of the Finish people.
