20th Century Italian Lacquered Metal, Aluminum Floor Lamp by Gino Sarfatti

A turquoise-white, vintage Mid-Century modern Italian floor lamp made of hand crafted lacquered metal and aluminum, designed by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce in good condition. The large colorful floor lamp is composed with fourteen adjustable, flexible shades, supported by long metal arms, standing on a round white marble base. The wires have been renewed. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1950, Italy.

Gino Sarfatti was an Italian lighting designer and artist, born in 1912, in Venice and passed away in 1985. He studied aeronaval engineering at the University of Genova. In 1939, Sarfatti founded his own firm Arteluce, what soon became a national and international success of modern architecture movement lighting. During his life time, he designed and produced over 400 lighting fixtures. Sarfatti and his company won multiple prizes and awards, such as the Compasso d'Oro in 1954 and 1955. FLOS acquired the company in 1973.
