20th Century Italian Pair of Grey Lounge, Wingback Chairs by Melchiorre Bega

A vintage Mid-Century modern Italian pair of tall lounge chairs designed by Melchiorre Bega in good condition. The sculptural wingback chairs have a slightly reclined backrest detailed with earmuffs, headrests particularized by arched armrests, standing on four wide polished Walnut feet. Newly upholstered in a light-grey cotton velour fabric with black piping. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1950, Italy.

Melchiorre Bega was an Italian architect and designer born in 1898, in Crevalcore, near of the city Bologna, Italy and passed away in 1976. In 1919, Bega finished his apprenticeship as a crafmanship at the University Fine Arts Academy of Bologna. During his life, Bega designed over 300 projects in the major cities of Italy and abroad. He dived his career into Bega 1 & Bega 2, pre-World War Two and after war.
