20th Century Italian Pair of Walnut Reading Lounge Chairs by Melchiorre Bega

A vintage Mid-Century modern Italian pair of lounge chairs made of hand crafted polished Walnut, designed by Melchiorre Bega in good condition. The seat backrest of the large reading chairs are inclined, detailed with earmuffs particularized by arched arms, standing on four short curved wooden feet. Newly upholstered in a light-grey, white cotton velour. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1940 - 1950, Italy.

Melchiorre Bega was an Italian architect and designer born in 1898, in Crevalcore, near of the city Bologna, Italy and passed away in 1976. In 1919, Bega finished his apprenticeship as a crafmanship at the University Fine Arts Academy of Bologna. During his life, Bega designed over 300 projects in the major cities of Italy and abroad. He dived his career into Bega 1 & Bega 2, pre-World War Two and after war.
