20th Century Swedish Wrought Iron Hanging, Ceiling Candelabra by Erik Hoeglund

A rare vintage Mid-Century modern Swedish hanging candelabra made of a painted wrought iron frame. Featuring fourteen Orrefors glass elements in gold and clear glass, composed with six candle holders. Produced by Boda, designed by Erik Hoeglund in good condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960 – 1970, Sweden, Scandinavia.

Erik Sylvester Hoeglund was a sculptor, painter, illustrator, glass artist and a designer born in 1932 Karlskrona, Blekinge, Sweden and passed away in 1998. He studied sculpture at the University of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1957, at age 25, Hoeglund became the youngest artist to ever receive the Lunning Prize. The Lunning Prize was awarded annually to up coming Scandinavian designers. Hoeglung worked as a designer for the Swedish company Boda Glassworks. 

Kosta Glasbruk, later known as Kosta Boda was a Swedish glasswork founded by two officers, Anders and Georg Bogislaus Stael von Holstein, in 1792. At the beginning they produced window glasses, chandeliers and drinking glasses. Since 1898, art and crystal glass has been produced under the brand of Orrefors. In 1950, the Swedish designer Vicke Lindstrand joined Kosta Glasbruck as an artistic director.
